3. How to Participate: Tug-of-War & Experience Guide

Step 1: Check the Schedule

First, note down the exact dates and times of core events such as the overwhelmingly large-scale arrowroot tug-of-war and the night drone show.

Step 2: Plan Your Route (How to get there)

To travel comfortably from Seoul, take the KTX from Cheongnyangni Station or an express bus from the Express Bus Terminal to Yeongwol. Since the venues like Jangneung, Donggang Basin, and Cheongnyeongpo are far apart, plan your movement using the free local shuttle bus timetable.

Step 3: Try on Traditional Costumes

To take great photos wearing Hanbok (traditional Korean clothing) or a Gat (traditional hat) rented for free on-site, you should visit the information desk early.

Step 4: Secure a Viewing Spot

Major downtown roads where the royal funeral parade passes will be restricted an hour before the event, so stand by the roadside early to secure your spot.

6. 5 Essential Tips for Foreign Visitors

Traffic Control Warning

On Saturday afternoon when the largest parade takes place, major downtown roads will be paralyzed, so park your car on the outskirts in advance.

Dress for the Temperature Drop

Yeongwol is a mountainous region, so even in late April, it can be frosty in the mornings and evenings. Bring a thick jacket.

Cheongnyeongpo Boat Waiting Time

King Danjong's exile site, Cheongnyeongpo, must be accessed by a small ferry. Expect long waiting times during the peak afternoon hours.

Bring Sun Protection

There is no shade at the Donggang Basin main stage. A parasol or a hat is essential for watching outdoor performances for a long time.

Use Inter-Venue Shuttles

Considering it's hard to catch a taxi in this area, be sure to familiarize yourself with the boarding locations of the free shuttle buses operated by the committee.
